Robert Komlofske says that when he retired from the grocery business his wife Nancy told him he needed to find a way to keep busy, so he converted his grocery warehouse in Prineville into a shop and hired some talented builders to help him work on project vehicles.

Robert loved racing as a kid, but never had the money to build his ideal machine. RK Classic Restoration is the realization of that childhood dream. It started with a 1965 Mustang that he bought at auction which Robert built up for drag racing. Unfortunately, he did such a beautiful job it was too pretty to race so he started taking it to local car shows. The Mustang won quite a few trophies, so when it was time to start his next project Robert decided it would be purely a show car, built specifically as rolling art, but still with the heart of a racer.

After seeing a black 1953 Chevy pickup at a local show, he decided this new beast wouldn't be a car but a pickup. The crew really outdid themselves with the project, carving something completely new and different from that original old work rig and creating what would turn out to be the very first truck ever in the Great 8 at the Detroit Autorama.

What started as a hobby doing something he'd always loved has turned into a second career as the head of a company that's creating some of the most beautiful and innovative custom classics in the country.
